The Kids Table series from Purple Phoenix Games seeks to lightly explore games that are focused toward children and families. We will do our best to give some good insight, but not bog your down with the millions of rules…
Paco’s Party (2021) | Blue Orange Games |
2-5 Players | 5 minutes |
Ages 5+ | BGG Weight – (not yet available) |
Aww yeah! A PARRRRRTY!! If there is one thing that puts (nearly) everyone in a great mood, it’s a swingin’ party! All our friends are there: Paco the Parrot, Hippo the Hippopotamus, Coco the Monkey, and Leo the Lion! We have had so much fun at the party and taken lots of pictures as well. But, what’s this? The birthday cake isn’t on THIS picture. What’s happening? We need to get rid of all the pictures that leaves someone or something out. Let’s get to work!
DISCLAIMER: We were provided a copy of this game for the purposes of this review. This is a retail copy of the game, so what you see in these photos is exactly what would be received in your box. I do not intend to cover every single rule included in the rulebook, but will describe the overall game flow and major rule set so that our readers may get a sense of how the game plays. For more in depth rules, you may purchase a copy online or from your FLGS. -T
Paco’s Party is a card shedding game for young ones that have them carefully examining the cards played and being able to identify what is missing. Each card will feature several characters and items, but may not feature ALL of them. The game is played quickly and the winning player is they that is able to get rid of their stack of cards first.
The first player will flip over the top card of their stack to start the game. Players examine the card and the first player to shout out what is missing will be able to play their top card for the next round. Essentially, this is the entire game. However, Paco gets a little more kid-friendly when a card that contains ALL the characters and items is flipped. Once that card is revealed the players all need to shout, “Paco’s Party!,” and dance at (not on) the table. The last player to do this will take all the cards on the current play pile to the bottom of their card stack. Ouch. The player to rid themselves of all their cards is the winner and may elect to do the Paco Dance at game end.
So this is a very silly card game and families will LOVE it! It gives the feel of a Spot It variation but with some added quirkiness and normal-shaped cards (those circular cards make my eye twitch). Children will love being able to spot the differences and identify which character or item is missing, provided the adults aren’t in it to win it.
This is another great little family card game from Blue Orange Games and I highly recommend it. My little loves it, and it is even a great time with 10-year-old as well! Grab a copy as soon as you can!
